Information on your iPhone

Birdie uses photos you choose, artwork you create, saved golf rounds, selected calendars and reminders, and Smart Marker connection information to provide its features. Artwork and Round History are stored locally. This release does not provide Birdie account or cloud sync.

Permissions you control

Birdie requests Photos or Camera access when you create artwork; Calendar and Reminders access for Today cards; Bluetooth and NFC access for your Smart Marker; and location while using the app to suggest nearby golf courses. You can search for a course by name or address without granting iPhone location access. You can change system access in iPhone Settings. Birdie marks a reminder complete when you tap its checkbox.

Sending to your Marker

When you choose to send a design, Birdie transfers the design to your connected compatible Smart Marker. A Today card can include calendar or reminder information you choose to display. Information shown on the physical Marker may be visible to people around it.

Maps and weather

Course search and nearby suggestions use Apple Maps services, which may receive your search text or iPhone location under Apple's policies. After you choose to load course weather, Birdie sends the selected golf course's coordinates to the US National Weather Service (NWS) for US or unidentified courses and, when NWS cannot provide a forecast, to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway). For courses identified as outside the US, Birdie sends the selected course's coordinates to MET Norway. The receiving weather service also sees your public IP address and may retain request logs under its own policy. Birdie does not send your iPhone's actual GPS position, Smart Marker identity, photos, calendar or reminders to NWS or MET Norway in a weather request. See the NWS privacy policy and MET Norway privacy policy.

AI and payments

AI creation is not available in this release. Version 1.0 does not require a subscription or in-app purchase to use its available features.

Retention and your choices

You can manage system permissions in iPhone Settings and stop future weather requests with Stop weather sharing in Today > Weather. Turning off weather sharing does not erase request logs already held by NWS or MET Norway; their linked policies describe retention and privacy rights. You can remove local information through available app controls or by deleting the app. Deleting the app removes its local data and may permanently remove saved rounds or artwork. Content already displayed on a physical Marker is not erased by deleting the app.
